This position is responsible for planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of health, safety, and environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees.  The successful candidate will be a self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with an operation and maintenance team.

The Safety Manager, in collaboration with other Safety personnel throughout the organization, will develop, implement, monitor, and lead a continuously improving Health Safety and Environmental program resulting in a strong Safety Culture and supporting Safety Management programs.   Program development will entail working closely with West Dakota Water and JMAC leadership.  Programs will address safety leadership, training, continuous improvement, communication, roles, accountability, metrics, and leading indicators.   Successful outcomes will include engaged leaders and crews and improved results year over year.



  • Ensure that federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and codes are observed
  • Plan, develop and implement safety training for new employee orientation and annual required programs; assist in new employee orientation training
  • Maintain and update as needed SOP's for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day to day training.
  • Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property are in compliance with West Dakota Water policies and safety requirements
  • Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company
  • Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting and managing the corrective actions
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations
  • Travel to site including to corporate and operational offices as required and perform any additional duties as required
  • Perform and contribute to the Site Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training; monthly company safety meetings; and coordination of modular training programs for the Operation
  • Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness

  • Minimum 2 years experience in leadership and management
  • Commitment to high operating standards for health safety and environmental matters.
  • Demonstrated expertise in safety leadership, regulatory requirements, and best methods
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information and research, learn, and leverage resources around HSE regulatory and best practice information.
  • Posses a high level of technical expertise, ability to apply skills to continuous process improvement while maintaining a maximum level of safety
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and solve problems in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to independently and efficiently manage time and meet deadlines
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people and personalities
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks

 Standard Requirements

  • Valid US issued driver's license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass background and drug and alcohol tests
  • Availability to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Ability to work safely in all types of weather
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all JMAC Energy Services employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively, in English, to customers or employees of organization.
  • The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
