West Dakota Water (WDW) is the largest private seller of fresh industrial water in North Dakota.  West Dakota Water designs, owns, and operates a fresh water pipeline system and provides surface transfer services for oil and gas development projects. Located in some of the most productive fields in the Bakken, West Dakota Water's system includes 120+ miles of pipeline, reservoirs, pump stations, and SCADA controls.

The West Dakota Pump Repair Mechanic to be responsible for trouble-shooting, repairing and maintaining water pumps and support equipment in a safe and efficient manner in the shop or at a customer job site. This position is also responsible for recording parts and labor accurately on appropriate Work Orders and Internal Equipment Repair forms and participating in a service call rotation



  • Rebuilds diesel engines and pump units.
  • Performs routine inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing as directed on WDW fleet equipment between each job.
  • Performs an initial inspection of WDW fleet equipment for possible damages; diagnoses and reports findings to Service Manager.
  • Repairs damaged equipment.
  • Tests all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment as directed.
  • Troubleshoots diesel engine, electrical system and pump problems. 
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


  • 3-5 years of experience and/or training or combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working independently
  • Good communication, proactive problem solving, and sound interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in dynamic, changing circumstances

  • Valid US issued driver's license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass background and drug and alcohol tests
  • Availability to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine equipment reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak clearly, in English, to customers or WDW employees.
  • The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
